For sale here is an 8' 2-piece / 3-tip hollow built 3wt from the bench of Jack Coyle. Excellent+++ condition, the rod has been lawn cast only. Medium flamed cane with three tips original to the build: one standard, one light (marked "L"), and one heavy (marked "H"). Lightly oxidized snake guides with clear agate stripper and single-foot tip tops. Wrapped in crimson red silk with dark chocolate accents. Each tip is wrapped differently for ease of rotation, and the rod is fitted with a machined aluminum ferrule plug. 13/64 micro-Swiss ferrules fit perfectly. Tapered cork handle and reel seat with blued cap & ring and abbreviated mahogany spacer. Hollow built into the tips, the rod has a wonderful medium fast action and casts a WF3 or DT3 beautifully. The differences between tips is subtle, but they each have their own personality. The rod is sold in the original bag and tube, with heavy canvas tube protector.
Jack is perhaps best known for his incredible restoration work, though he is a fantastic rod maker in his own right. A true craftsman, his rods are cherished by those who have received them. They have not been made available for direct sale...until now! We are fortunate to be offering two of his rods on the site currently, the other can be seen here
