For sale here is a Hardy Special Perfect 3 1/4" fly reel. A nice user reel with 2 condition notes: the ribbed alloy foot is shortened on one end (somewhat crudely), and the winding plate has a hairline crack on one edge. Leaded finish is worn to a dull gray patina, and mechanically the reel is smooth & tight. Rim mounted tensioner works as intended with strong resistance throughout its range. The bottom pillar shows a bit of line burn, consistent with use over the decades. Diameter is 3 1/4" with a spool width of just under 1". Weight is 6.6oz. The Special Perfect is a nice size for heavy trout/light salmon/steelhead fishing and balances well with 9' rods. Sold in a post-WWII leatherette Hardy zipper case.
