For sale here is an early Hardy Perfect 3 5/8" fly reel in very good condition. Featuring "Rod in Hand" and straight-line logos, Ivorine handle grasp and brass receiver. 4 cusp spool is fixed by a nickel silver retaining screw (reverse threaded), and the strap-over tensioner works as intended with strong RHW check. The ribbed brass foot looks like a Hardy factory replacement. The reel foot pillar has a small crack on one side. From the looks of it, it has probably been there for a very long time and appears stable. Weight is 7.31oz. A nice early Hardy Perfect, fitted with the flat-caliper 1896 checkwork. Sold in a Farlows block leather case with the letters "W. McC." inked on the lid.
