For sale here is an 8' 4pc / 2 tip 5wt bamboo rod from the bench of Jim Downes. Near mint condition, the rod appears to be lawn cast only. Medium toned cane with dark snake guides and red agate stripper. Wraps are golden beige with dark tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. Maker's signature and model number are scripted below the stripping guide on the butt section. 6.5" cork grip is clean and smooth. Down locking nickel silver reel with maker's stamp on the butt cap and burl reel seat spacer. All the bluing is in near-perfect condition with just a hint of bluing loss to the edges of the butt cap. Otherwise the rod is mint. Weight is 4.8oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast. A fine pack rod from Mr. Downes, sold in the original bag and brass capped tube with maker's label affixed.
