Howells, G.H. - 8' 3/2 4wt Bamboo Rod - Rare 3pc Howells!

For sale here is an extraordinary Gary Howells 8' 3-piece / 2-tip 4wt bamboo rod in mint condition. Serial #6148, made in 1997. Howells' classic medium tempered cane with 3x3 nodes, bright guides and carbide stripping guide, all wrapped in mahogany windings with gold tipping. 15/64 & 9/64 ferrules fit perfectly. All sections are straight, full length and serialized. The script on the butt is clear and crisp, and the rod is fitted with a strap & ring hook keeper. The cork grip remains protected by cling wrap and a piece of masking tape with Howells' still intact. Standard up-locking reel seat over zebrawood spacer. 4 1/8oz scripted weight, but my scale reads a bit less than that. Gary Howells is known to have made only 8 three-piece rods, and only 2 are 4wts. This one remains in essentially new condition, a truly exceptional find. This rod represents a rare opportunity and will find a comfortable home in any distinguished collection. Sold in the original bag and tube with data label affixed. The cloth tube protector is a later addition.
