For sale here is a Gary Howells 8' 2/2 5wt, 3 7/8oz bamboo rod in very good used condition. Serial #4604, made in 1981. Featuring honey tempered cane, bright guides and carboloy stripping guide wrapped in mahogany windings with gold tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the 14/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, nickel silver winding check and 6.5" cork grip over Howells' standard screw-lock reel seat & spacer. The cork is soiled with a hint of ridging. Scripted weight is 3 7/8oz but my scale reads 4.19oz. The rod shows signs of honest use and could benefit from a light cleaning with a microfiber cloth and some distilled water. The ferrules have a few small areas of varnish loss, but overall the finish remains in excellent shape. Medium, full flexing action, best with a DT5. A classic Howells trout rod and one of his most popular tapers. Sold in the original bag and tube with maker's label affixed.
