Hardy - Barton Dry Fly Reel

For sale here is an original Hardy 'Barton' dry fly reel. 4-screw nickel silver line guard and offset ribbed brass foot. The foot is full length/unaltered, although there are a few small tool marks to the long end. Original tapered handle grasp spins freely, and the reel is mechanically sound with working tensioner. The word "Dry" is neatly engraved on the spool. Two major condition notes: 1) two cracks in the frame have been repaired by Bill Archuleta (see photos). and 2) the spool latch spring isn't working as it should. As far as I can tell, the spring in the spool latch is gunked up. The latch does work, it just doesn't retract on its own, it has to be manually pushed back into the locking position. 3 1/4" diameter with a spool width of 3/4", the reel weighs just over 7 3/4oz. A very rare Hardy reel, one of 109 produced in the late 1930's, ready to fish or collect.
