Leonard, H.L. - 'Hunt' Model 51-5, 8'6" 3/2 5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Leonard 'Hunt' Model 51-5 bamboo rod in excellent original condition. 8'6" 3-piece / 2-tip for a 5wt line. Serial #8290, made shortly after Tom Maxwell left Leonard. Medium tempered cane with 3-up nodes, dark snake guides and red agate stripping guide wrapped in crimson windings with dark purple accents. All sections are straight, full length and serialized, and the tips are marked for ease of rotation. Ferrules fit perfectly, and all the nickel silver hardware is blued (ferrule included), in line with the Hunt tradition. A lightly swelled butt leads into the strap & ring hook keeper, nickel silver winding check and 6" cork grip (clean with just a hint of ridging). Cap & ring reel seat over fine wood spacer, the reel seat hardware has been reblued. Butt cap retains the Leonard roll stamp. Weight is 4.73oz. A versatile taper with action on the medium side of medium fast. Sold in a replacement bag and tube.
