Winston, R. L. - 8'6" 2/1 4 1/2oz (6wt) Bamboo Fly Rod

For sale here is a Lew Stoner era Winston 8'6" 2-piece / 1-tip bamboo rod. Scripted weight is 4 1/2oz, which matches my scale precisely. Medium fast action, casts a DT6 nicely. Made in October 1955 (serial #7819), the rod is in excellent original condition. Gold windings (double wrapped at the guide feet) with burgundy accents. 16/64 Duronz ferrules fit perfectly. Strap and ring hook keeper with bakelite winding check and downlocking aluminum reel seat. 6" cork grip is soiled and has just a hint of ridging near the top of the grip. Both sections are straight and full length. This rod was made for Ellen Trueblood, and her name is inked at the signature. Often overshadowed by her husband Ted, though she too was an accomplished angler, writer, and mycologist. This is a great San Francisco era 6wt with a nice bit of history thrown in! Sold with original bag and replacement anodized tube.
