Sold Out $1.00
For sale here is a San Francisco-era 8'3" 4oz 2-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod. Serial #1418, made in 1974 just before Winston moved to Twin Bridges. The rod features bright guides wrapped in putty colored windings and red accents. All sections are full length and both tips have very slight fish fighting sets. There are a few scuffs to the varnish above and below the signature wrap, and the butt section is inked with the original owners name. Strap & ring hook keeper with bakelite winding check over 6" grip and black bakelite reel seat with aluminum screw lock. The grip is soiled and has one rough spot on the underside. There is one major condition note that must be mentioned: there is a hairline crack in the cane, one flat right, between the signature wrap and the first guide. It runs about 4" long and is mostly centered on the flat. It's difficult to see without magnification, but can be felt with a fingernail and should be addressed prior to use. The 8'3" 4oz is a great 5wt taper and this would be a nice user rod once the repair has been made. The rod is sold in the original bag and tube, and listed at a deep discount with the condition consideration in mind.
