For sale here is a very special Tom Morgan Rodsmiths 7'6" 2-piece / 2-tip 5wt bamboo rod in mint, un-fished condition, from the collection of Mr. Bill Blackburn of Bozeman Montana. Bill was the bamboo rod builder for TMR in the early days before transitioning to making rods under his own name exclusively. The inscription on the butt sections reads "W. William Blackburn - By Tom, Geri & Bill", and the rod was given the Bill for his service at the company. Hollow-fluted construction, it features blonde tempered cane, snake guides & red agate stripper wrapped in garnet Gudebrod thread with gold accents. Oxidized Swiss ferrules with machined and knurled ferrule plug. Black winding check, 6" full wells grip, and black cap & ring reel seat over mortised burl spacer. All sections are arrow straight and serialized (89/200). The only condition note is that the black microsuede lining of the rod bag has marked the grip slightly, leaving two faint vertical lines on the cork. The rod is packaged in a handsome rod bag and hexagonal burgundy heirloom tube featuring custom made fixtures and knurled cap with sterling silver TMR insert. Also comes with heavy quilted tube protector. Just a gorgeous rod with some nice TMR history attached.
