For sale here is a 'Shumari' 8'3" 3/2 5wt hollow built bamboo rod from Tokachi Trout Rods. Made in Hokkaido Japan by master rod maker Naoki Hashimoto, this rod is in excellent, lightly used condition. Featuring darkly flamed cane with Snake brand guides and fine agate stripping guide. Wraps are dark claret with lemon yellow tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the tips are wrapped differently for ease of rotation. Blued ferrules fit perfectly and both females are fitted with a cork and aluminum ferrule plug. 6.2" cork grip is clean and smooth with an accent ring towards the winding check. Up-locking aluminum reel seat over striped cherry spacer. The varnish is perfect, and the rod has clearly seen little use. Weight is 4.7oz. Progressive, dry fly action. I would consider it a fast actioned rod. Designed for targeting larger rainbows on Japan's northern island, this rod from Hashimoto's 'Shumari' series would be right at home in a wide range of fishing situations. Naoki Hashimoto is perhaps best known in the US for his work on Scott bamboo rods, but his own rods are sights to behold. This one is a highly capable, beautifully finished 3-piece 5wt. Sold in the original bag with stiffener and custom aluminum tube with maker's data decal and canvas tube protector.
