For sale here is an F.E. Thomas 'Special', 8'6" 3/2 bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Serial number A429, made around 1940. Lightly tempered cane with English-twist bronze guides wrapped in light brown thread with red accents. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. Weight is 4.5oz. Nickel silver winding check with integrated hook keeper, 6" cork grip (smooth & clean), and cap & ring reel seat over mortised wood spacer. The butt cap retains the F.E. Thomas stamp with serial number on the bottom. Action on the medium side of medium fast, it should handle a variety of 5/6wt lines. A nice example in great shape, sold in the original bag and tube.
