For sale here is a stunning R.D. Taylor 7' 4-piece, 4wt bamboo rod in mint condition. Mr. Taylor's 4-piece pack rods are extremely rare, and most are heavier 8 footers. Medium flamed cane with dark guides wrapped light brown with crimson tipping. Blued ferrules fit perfectly. All sections are straight, full length and serialized (#250). The butt has a gentle swell with strap & ring hook keeper & nickel silver winding check. 5.25" cork grip is clean & smooth, and the rod is fitted with a cap & ring reel seat over dark wood spacer. The maker's stamp is clear and crisp on the butt cap. This rod has been lawn cast, but it appears as delivered. The varnish is faultless, the bluing is perfect, absolutely spectacular. Weight is 3.38oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast. Designing a 4-piece rod that casts smoothly is a difficult task, but Mr. Taylor achieves it in spades. A beautiful pack rod in the Catskill tradition, you're unlikely to see another in this condition. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube.
