For sale here is a John Pickard model 704, 7' 2-piece / 2-tip, 4wt bamboo rod in very good used condition. Based on the Paul H. Young Princess taper, this is a nice rendition of the rare original. Nicely flamed cane with blued snake guides wrapped in chestnut brown windings. Carbide stripping guide and blued nickel silver ferrules. All sections straight & full length, and the ferrule fit is perfect. All-cork grip and reel seat with blued nickel silver cap and ring. The cork shows minor soiling and the bluing on the reel seat hardware has slightly uneven wear. John Pickard's work is firmly set in the Michigan tradition, and his 704 is true to the PHY original. Sold with original canvas fold-over bag and brass capped tube with Pickard's card affixed.
