For sale here is a Payne 198, 7'6" 3-piece / 2-tip, 5wt bamboo rod in excellent+ restored condition. Fully restored and the rod has seen very little use since the work was completed. Medium toned cane with oxidized guides, golden brown windings with gold tipping and burgundy accents. All sections are straight and full length, and the 10/64 & 15/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, blued winding check and 6" grip (clean and smooth). Up-locking reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. Weight is 4.20oz. Medium fast action, this one is a true 5wt in my hands. The Payne 198 is an amazing taper, a very capable 7'6" rod. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube with E.F. Payne label intact.
