For sale here is a spectacular Payne 101L in mint condition. As delivered with the paper on the grip. 7'6" 2-piece / 2-tip and it feels like it will be heavenly with a DT5. Classic caramel toned Payne bamboo with dark guides, chestnut windings & gold tipping, and perfection stripping guide. 12/64 blued ferrules fit perfectly, and the female is fitted with the distinctive Payne ferrule plug. 5.75" cork grip is presumably mint under the paper, and the rod is fitted with a cap & ring reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. The bluing remains perfect, and the butt cap retains the Payne roll stamp with "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch New York" on the reverse. Weight is 3 5/8oz. Action feels solidly medium fast. It's incredible to see a survivor like this with the paper on the grip, a mint Jim Payne rod is a sight to behold! The rod itself is perfect, but the bag and tube are replacements. A rare find, even without the original accoutrements!
