For sale here is a Payne 97, 7' 2/2 4wt bamboo rod made by Dave Holloman in Sisters, Oregon. Excellent+ condition, featuring medium toned cane wand chestnut brown windings with gold tipping. Blued ferrules fit perfectly, and the female is fitted with a classic Payne finial ferrule plug. All sections are full length and straight. Strap & ring hook keeper, 5.5" grip (smooth with light soiling), and blued cap & ring reel seat. The butt cap retains the maker's stamp and has the original owner's initials hand engraved on the reverse. Scripted weight is 3 1/4oz but my scale reads just over 3 1/2oz. Medium action, a smooth casting 4wt for small streams. Dave Holloman owned and operated the E.F. Payne Rod Co for over 30 years, creating faithful renditions of Payne's most beloved tapers. Sold in the original bag with hangtag and brass capped tube.
