For sale here is a Payne "Special", 6' 2/2 4wt bamboo rod made by Dave Holloman of Sister's Oregon. Mint condition. Scripted and actual weight is 2 3/4oz, which is a bit heavier than Holloman's standard 95 taper. Probably designated for a 4 or 5wt line, but I prefer a WF4. Medium tempered cane, dark guides and chestnut brown windings with gold & purple accents. All sections are full length and straight, although one tip has a subtle upward curve towards the tip top. Blued 11/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, 5.5" grip (clean and smooth), and cap & ring reel seat over dark wood spacer. The reel seat hardware is blued and engraved with the original Payne stamp on one side and the original owner's initials on the reverse. Medium fast action, a point-and-shoot trout rod. Don't let the small package fool you; this feels like a rather capable 6-footer. Dave Holloman owned and operated the E.F. Payne Rod Co for over 30 years, creating faithful renditions of Payne's most beloved tapers. Sold in the original bag with hangtag and brass capped tube.
