Payne - 8' 3/2 5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an 8' 3/2 5wt Payne bamboo rod in excellent restored condition. Weight is 4 1/4oz and the actions is closer to medium than medium fast. The weight suggests a model 202 but the action is what I would expect from a 201. Restored by Steve Blake and possibly unfished since then. Medium tempered bamboo, dark snake guides and pale orange agate stripping guide. Wraps are chestnut brown with gold tipping and purple accents. Blued ferrules fit perfectly (10/64 and 15/64), and all sections are full length and straight. 6.5" cork grip is clean and smooth, and the rod is fitted with the classic Payne cap & ring reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. The bluing on the reel seat hardware shows a bit of wear, and the butt cap retains the Payne roll stamp and "Sold by A&F" on the reverse. A smooth casting 5wt, the quintessential bamboo trout rod. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube (sans hang tag & tube label).
