Payne - 6'6" 2/2 3wt Bamboo Rod (Model 96)

For sale here is a 6'6" 2/2 3wt Payne bamboo rod. Beautifully restored by Steve Blake, almost certainly a model 96 (although no hang tag is present). Medium toned cane with chestnut brown windings and gold tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the 10/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, 6.5" cork grip and cap & ring reel seat. The Spanish cedar spacer flares at the cork and the butt cap retains the Payne roll stamp and "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" on the opposite side. Weight is a lithe 2.33oz. Medium action, a delicate 3wt. The Payne 96 is a highly regarded small stream taper; this one appears to have seen little use since restoration and is ready for service. Sold in what looks like the original bag & brass capped tube. The bag has a strip of cloth tape at the bottom, presumably patching some holes.
