For sale here is a rare Paul Young Princess, 7' 2/2 4wt bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Serial #3871, made in 1960, one of the last rods produced during Paul Young's lifetime. A scarce taper and a rare example of well-preserved gold script (written in Jack Young's hand). Built on a medium flamed blank with bronzed guides and Perfection stripping guide. Dark copper wraps throughout. All sections are straight, full length and serialized. Blued ferrules fit perfectly. U-shaped hook keeper, skeleton grip & reel seat with thumb relief. The cork is smooth with a hint of soiling and the pocketed butt cap retains the PHY stamping. Gold script on the butt reads "Charles L Corkins - Princess 7' 3oz HEH - a Paul H Young Rod". The rod weighs 3oz on the nose. Medium fast, progressive action. Perfect with a DT4. A spectacular example of the Princess taper. Sold in the original bag with dark brown piping and Champion style tube with original gold decal affixed.
