For sale here is a near mint Paul Young Perfectionist, 7'6" 2/2 4-5wt rod. Made by Jack Young in 1978, shortly after Bob Summers left the PHY rod company. Beautifully flamed cane with matte oil finish. Snake guides are wrapped in transparent dark brown windings. All sections are straight, full length & serialized (#4732), and the blued ferrules fit perfectly. 6" cork grip and the cork reel seat spacer are both virtually spotless. Black screw-lock reel seat & pocketed spacer with PHY stamping. The rod has been lawn cast, but I doubt it has ever seen the water. 2 3/4oz scripted weight, overall weight is 3.35oz. The original owners name and "November 1978" are inked on the butt section under varnish. Medium fast action with a hint of semi-parabolic character (more positive than most PHY Perfectionists, in my opinion). Excellent at 25-40’ with a WF4, although some will prefer a 5wt. An essentially new Jack Young Perfectionist, sold in the original bag and Champion-style tube.
