For sale here is an Orvis Midge, 7'6" 2-piece / 2-tip 5wt bamboo rod in excellent used condition. Serial #63040, made in 1971. Built on a medium tempered impregnated blank, featuring bright guides wrapped in chestnut brown windings. 11/64 stepdown ferrules are darkly blued and the fit is perfect. All sections are full length and serialized, and the tips both have slight upward sets. U-shaped hook keeper, 6" cigar grip and down-locking aluminum reel seat over wood spacer. The cork is smooth with light/moderate soiling, and the reel seat spacer has some light mounting marks. The rod appears to have been fished sparingly and well cared for. Scripted weight is 3 5/8oz but it weighs a hair less on my scale. Medium action, rated for a 5wt, although most will prefer a DT4. Sold in the original gray bag & aluminum tube with engraved hexagonal cap and green/silver label.
