For sale here is a very nice early Orvis CFO III in excellent+ condition. This is the earliest production model, made in England by Hardy, with script that appears inverted when hung off a rod (a correction made within the first year or two). Featuring "screwback" spindle, fully ported frame & spool, black handle grasp and three-hole alloy foot. The drag adjuster works as intended, and the reel can be fished LHW or RHW. Mechanically the reel is very tight and there is very little wear to the gray enamel finish. One of the nicest inverted-script CFO's I have seen, capacity is for a WF6 + 50yds. A very special added feature to this reel is the original shipping box with the Orvis shipping label intact and 1972 post mark. The reel is also sold with the original suede zipper case. A fantastic example to collect or fish.
