Orvis - Battenkill 8' 2/2 8wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an Orvis Battenkill 8' 2/2 8wt impregnated bamboo rod in excellent used condition. #56547, made in 1969. Dark impregnated bamboo with bright guides, chestnut brown wraps and high-bridge carbide stripping guide. All sections are full length, straight & serialized. Blued 13/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and the bluing is in great shape. U-shaped hook keeper, nickel silver winding check and down-locking aluminum reel seat over wood spacer. 6" grip is smooth with just a hint of soiling. Scripted and actual weight is 4 3/8oz. Medium action. Rated as an 8wt, however as with most Orvis cane rods from this period it casts one line weight below its rating. In this case, a DT7 suits it nicely. Powerful, but still plenty of feel. A rather pleasant heavy trout rod. Sold in the original bag and tube with blue & silver data label affixed.
