For sale here is a Payne 197 taper 7' 3/2 4wt bamboo rod made by Ron McKinley. Ron sold rods under the moniker "Macklin Customs" from his shop in Derry, NH. This Payne 197 taper is in mint condition and absolutely faultless. Medium tempered cane, dark guides and chestnut brown windings with gold tipping. 8/64 and 13/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are full length and straight as a pin. Strap & ring hook keeper, 5" grip and cap & ring reel seat over dark wood spacer. The bluing is perfect, and the Macklin Customs stamp is clear and crisp on the butt cap. Weight is 2.96oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, a beautiful rendition of the famed Payne 197 taper. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube.
