Leonard, H.L. - Model 48H, 7' 3/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an HL Leonard model 48H, 7’ 3/2 4wt bamboo rod in good used condition. This is a Ted Simroe-era rod featuring blonde tempered cane and dark guides wrapped in red silks. 9/64 & 14/64 ferrules fit perfectly. All sections are full length & serialized (#1910), and both tips have very slight sets. The mid male ferrule has been reset, and the adjacent snake guide has been re-wrapped. Otherwise, all wraps appear original, and a few are showing their age (a light overcoat would be justified). Skeleton cork grip & reel seat with pocketed butt cap & slide band. The cork shows significant soiling and there is a small gouge at the fattest part of the grip & an indentation from the slide band on the reel seat. The butt cap retains the Leonard roll stamp, and it’s rotating on its pin ever so slightly. Scripted weight is 3 ounces + 2g, but my scale reads 3 ounces + 9g. Action on the medium side of medium fast, best with a DT4. This rod has clearly seen plenty of honest use but remains fishable. Sold in the original bag and tube with the red Leonard decal affixed. The brass tube collar is cracked and is currently held in place with a zip tie; however it shouldn’t take too much effort to glue it back together.
