For sale here is an H.L. Leonard Model 39, 7'6" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Medium tempered cane with bright guides wrapped in transparent brown silks with dark brown tipping. Bright ferrules fit perfectly, and the female is fitted with a ferrule plug. All sections are full length, straight & serialized (#3549). The ceramic stripping guide has a small crack to one side of the plastic bezel, however the insert appears stable. 5.5" grip is smooth with light soiling, and the rod is fitted with a down-locking reel seat over butternut spacer. Stated weight is 3 5/8oz but my scale reads 1/8oz heavier. Medium action, ideal with a DT5. It has enough power to turn over a long leader and a delicate enough tip to protect 7x. Lawn casting this rod has me thinking of blanket hatches of tricos and baetis. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube with yellow data label affixed.
