For sale here is a Julius vom Hofe 3 3/8" fly reel in very good original condition. Aluminum spool with nickel silver bands and black ebonite side plates. The side plates remain quite dark with just a bit of sun fading, especially on the handle side. Counterbalanced crank and the handle spins freely. 3 3/8" diameter with a spool width of 1.5". Gear & pawl drag is very close to neutral bias, and the on/off clicker works as intended. Nickel silver foot is marked 2/00. Made by Julius vom Hofe for Dame Stoddard & Co., Boston, and the handle side is marked with both companies' names. A nice surviving salmon reel from JvH.
