Hull, M.E. - 8' 2/2 6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Miney Hull 8' 2-piece / 2-tip 6wt impregnated bamboo rod in good used condition. Serial #239. Good used condition, all sections are straight, full length and serialized. One tip has slightly darker wraps, it's possible the tip was re-wrapped. Each section is a slightly different length, but all are within 1/4"; I strongly suspect the rod was made this way. 6.5" grip is clean and smooth, and most of the rings have at least some off-white filler. Down-locking aluminum reel seat over wood spacer. The butt cap and tube cap bear the "Hull" stamp in cartouche. Miney Hull was a chemist and friend/colleague of Harold "Pinky" Gillums. He did some pioneering work on impregnated rods and famously tried to persuade Gillum to abandon resorcinol glue, as recounted in Marty's Keane's "Classic Rods & Rodmakers". The rod appears to have seen little action and comes in the original bag & tube. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
