Howells, Gary - 6'6" 2/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a scarce 6'6" 2-piece /2-tip 4wt bamboo rod make by Gary Howells. Serial #5920 made in 1992. One of 35 examples made by Gary, according to Joe Beelart Jr.'s book on the life and rods of Gary Howells. Excellent used condition, the rod has been used sparingly and very well cared for. Bright guides and carboloy stripper wrapped in mahogany windings with gold tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the 11/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, 5.5" cork grip with matching reel seat spacer. Aluminum slide band reel seat with pocketed cap and Bakelite butt plate. All the cork is clean and smooth. Scripted weight is 2 1/8oz, but my scale reads closer to 2.40oz. A beautifully finished rod and a great example of the 6'6" configuration. Medium/medium fast action, a delightful small stream rod. All original except that the butt ferrule which has been expertly reset by Glenn Brackett. Sold in the original bag and tube with Howells data decal.
