For sale here is a Gary Howells 8'6" 2-piece / 2-tip 7wt bamboo rod in excellent used condition. Serial #3949, made in 1972. Medium tempered cane with bright guides wrapped in chestnut windings with gold tipping. 15/64 ferrules fit perfectly. All sections are straight, full length & serialized. Strap & ring hook keeper over 6.5" cork grip (clean & smooth), and up-locking aluminum reel seat over dark zebrawood spacer. 4 5/8oz stated & actual weight. Hollow butt with solid tips; a common feature on Howells' longer rods. Progressive, medium action, a smooth casting rod with a WF or DT7. A fantastic example of Howells' early rods where he was using a brushed technique to varnish. Sold in the original bag and tube with data label affixed.
