Hardy - Special Perfect 3 1/4" Fly Reel - Wartime, Bright Finish

For sale here is an exceedingly rare Hardy Special Perfect reel with original spitfire finish. This is a war-time reel, featuring bright aluminum finish throughout, single check & pawl, smooth foot and striated erinoid handle grasp. Excellent original condition, the reel shows signs of light use throughout the years but remains remarkably clean. The rim mounted tensioner works as intended, and the winding plate is stamped "JS" (Jimmy Smith) internally. 3 1/4" diameter, 1" spool width and weight is 6.84oz. Original wartime Hardy reels finished "in the white" like this are rather scarce, and to see an original and correct Special Perfect is almost unheard of. A very collectible reel, you may never see another one! Sold is a later-era Hardy zippered case.
