For sale here is a very special limited edition set of Hardy reels & rod from the Pall Mall Centenary in 1992. All pieces are mint, unused, and each piece bears the low serial number 007. Each reel size is represented; #3/4, #6/7, and #10/11. Standard features include: matte black "stovepipe" enamel finish with brass & gold colored accents, gold anodized reel foot, turned wooden handle, and palmable spool. Easily switched from RHW to LHW, the two smaller sizes have reversible nickel silver line guards, the #10/11 was designed without one. These reels are a hybrid of the Lightweight and Marquis series, and they accept spare spools from the standard Marquis range (#4, #7, and Salmon #2). The face of each reel bears the closed oval logo from the 1890's, in addition to the serial number and "Pall Mall Centenary - 1892-1992". Each reel comes in original drawstring Sevylt bag with Pall Mall Centenary patch, and original box & papers.
Included in the set is a matching 9' 4-piece, 6/7wt graphite rod, also in mint condition. Built on a sanded gray blank, featuring bright snake guides wrapped in jet black windings with crimson tipping. The butt section has "Pall Mall Centenary - 1892-1992" scripted in white ink, along with the 007 serial number. The remaining sections are serialized with a "7" and have matching aluminum and cork ferrule plugs. 7" full wells cork grip still has the plastic on it, and the rod is fitted with an up-locking reel seat with matte black and gold finish, and hard rubber butt cap. The rod is sold in original tan sock with hang tag and dark blue Centenary patch.
This is a superb and complete example of the Pall Mall Centenary set, a fantastic addition to any Hardy collection!
