Gillum, H.S. - 8' 3/3 5-6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an early H.S. Gillum 8' 3pc bamboo trout rod. 1 butt, 2 mids and 3 tips; the butt, one mid and one tip appear to be original and have matching (correct) script. The other mid and two tips lack serial numbers (there is a faint shadow of a serial on one of these tips, but it doesn't match the original sections), but the ferrules, guides and threads are a good match for what I believe are the original sections. Serial #504 and marked "H.S. Gillum - Custom Built" on the butt section. All sections are wrapped in pale golden-brown silks with black tipping. 6" cigar grip has been cleaned and remains quite smooth. Cap & ring reel seat over mahogany spacer. Assembled weight of the original sections is 3.81oz. All ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are full length and straight. Action on the medium side of medium fast, it works well with a DT5 or a DT6. A rather interesting early Gillum rod. The bag is original but only has 4 compartments for 6 rod sections. The finishes on the non-serialized sections are close enough to the original that I believe it's possible Gillum had a hand in making/finishing them. Impossible to say for sure though. The action is more full flexing that most 8' Gillum rods, which adds even more intrigue. Sold in the original bag and replacement brass capped tube.
