For sale here is an Edwards DeLuxe 8'6" 3-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod in very good used condition. Likely made by Gene after the E.W. Edwards & Sons rod company was sold to Horton Mfg. Co. in the early 1930's. The rod is all original, but the ferrules were reset at some point. Medium tempered cane with dark snake guides and Perfection stripping guide, wrapped in dark bronze windings with gold tipping. The windings at the ferrules were redone with slightly brighter yellow tipping wraps, but you have to look closely to see the difference. The ferrules are size 17/64 & 11/64 and the fit is perfect. All sections are straight & full length. The butt section is scripted "Edwards DeLuxe" in white ink that has yellowed with age. Strap & ring hook keeper & Bakelite winding check. The 6" grip is soiled but mostly smooth with hints of ridging on two rings. Up-locking reel seat over dark walnut spacer. The reel seat spacer is rocking slightly, although it feels quite secure with a reel attached. The rod weighs 5 1/4oz, and I like it with a DT6 or WF7. Sold in the original bag and tube with 90% label. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
