Sold Out
For sale here is a Dickerson 8013, 8' 2/2 5wt in good original condition. Built in 1948 for John Boate. The rod features bronzed snake guides, Perfection stripping guide & tip tops, wrapped in light orange thread with black tipping. Signature wraps on the butt section. All sections are full length and free of repair, and straight except for a slight casting set in one tip. 13/64 ferrules fit perfectly and retain their bluing nicely. The script on the butt section is bold and clear. Hexagonal winding check, 5.5" cork grip (slightly soiled, slightly ridged), and standard down-locking reel seat over wood spacer. Brass pinning wire can be seen clearly on the reel seat hardware and the male ferrule slides. The major condition note is a fair bit of varnish meltdown, particularly near the female ferrule and the tip tops. There are a few notable areas of bag imprints, and small gaps in the varnish at the female ferrule. The varnish has set back up sufficiently where it's not actively sticking to the bag, but the next owner should consider addressing the issue. All the wraps appear original, and my concerns on condition are limited to the varnish. The rod is a fantastic medium-fast action 5wt, and one of Dickerson's most beloved tapers. Sold in the original olive-green fold over bag and brass collared tube with plastic cap. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
