Carlson, C.W. - Banty 5' 2/2 5wt Hex Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Sam Carlson 5' "Banty" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod in excellent used condition. This rod probably started as blank sections from the F.E. Thomas Rod Co., and is marked Thomas Rod Co. on the butt. Medium toned bamboo with snake guides and Perfection stripper, all wrapped in maroon windings with red & black tipping. Blued ferrules were made by Carlson and transition from tubular to hexagonal towards the serrations. Ferrule fits are perfect, and the sections are full length and straight. Marked on the butt "Thomas Rod Co. - #1103" and the original owner's name is on the opposite flat. 5.5" grip with blued cap & ring hardware over cork spacer. Bakelite checks, and the reel seat bluing shows minor wear. Weight is 2oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast. A nimble 5-footer, best with a WF5. Sam Carlson is known to have made a few of these shorter rods after purchasing the contents of the F.E. Thomas Rod Co. and they are somewhat scarce. This one packs into what looks like the original bag and a modern black powder coated tube.
