Bedford, Tim - Model 862417, 8'6" 3/2 Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Tim Bedford model 862417, 8'6" 3-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod in excellent+ used condition. Medium tempered cane with bright snake guides and high-bridge carbide stripping guide. Wraps are golden tan with chestnut tipping. All sections are straight and full length, though all sections are slightly different lengths (tips are uniform). Step-up Swiss ferrules measure 24/64 and 17/64 across the male slides. Script on the butt section remains clear and bold and includes the initials "L.D.G.". Bent wire hook keeper, 6.5" cork grip is clean and smooth, and the rod is fitted with a down-locking reel seat over wooden spacer. The butt cap is provisioned for a 2" aluminum and cork fighting butt with Bedford's stamp on the base. Medium fast action, best with a DT7 or WF8. A powerful caster capable of making long casts with ease. Tim Bedford was lifelong friends with Lyle Dickerson and purchased the Dickerson shop in 1972. Bedford made rods under his own name (mostly based on Dickerson tapers) out of Oakland CA before the shop passed to Jim Schaff. This rod comes in the original bag and brass capped tube.
