A Quaint Treatise on Flies and Fly Making by W.H. Aldam

For sale here is a stunning example of W.H. Aldam's "A Quaint Treatise on 'Flees, and the Art A Atyfichall Flee Making' by an Old Man well known on the Derbyshire streams as a first-class fly-fisher a century ago". 2nd edition, published in 1876. 91p + errata. Flies and material examples are intact & complete, and set into oval mounts with their original seals. 2 hand colored lithographs from water colors by James Poole Esq. Dark green embossed cloth boards with gilt throughout. The boards show some edge and corner wear, and some pages/insets show minor foxing. The endpaper has a signed, handwritten note, and the top of the title page has the same signature. A beautifully preserved copy of Aldam's classic.
