For sale here is a 9'6" 2/2 7wt Yerxa bamboo rod. Max Yerxa's shop was recently purchased by Kevin Gerig and this is a finished rod that was among the shop contents. New condition with the paper on the grip. Medium toned cane with 2-opposed nodes and bright guides. Gold windings with matching intermediate wraps, in the E.C. Powell tradition. Bright ferrules fit perfectly and are marked for ease of alignment. The sections are full length and not entirely straight, but made that way. The butt is marked "Yerxa Rod - Colusa CA". 6.25" cork grip, all aluminum reel seat and the rubber butt cap removes to accept a 2.5" fighting butt. Weight is 6.46oz. Medium fast action, best with a 7wt or maybe a light 8wt line or equivalent head. Made for single hand steelhead fishing. Max Yerxa made rods in the E.C. Powell tradition. His uncle "Wood" Yerxa worked for E.C. in Marysville CA, and Max's rods were made using the same semi-hollow construction using laminated strips of Port Orford cedar.
