Winston, R.L. - 8' 2/2 4oz (5wt) Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Winston 8' 2/2 4oz (5wt) bamboo rod in very good original condition. Serial #1576, this rod was made right around the time that Winston moved from San Francisco to Twin Bridges, and all the script is in Tom Morgan's handwriting. Medium tempered cane with bright guides and gold wraps. Dark red accents at the ferrules, tip tops and signature wraps. All sections are full length and serialized, and both tips have slight droops/sets. Duronz ferrules fit perfectly, and there is a ~1/16" gap between the collar of the male ferrule and the welt on the female ferrule when seated. The ferrule was clearly made this way. The varnish is good shape all around, although there is a small band of cracked varnish at the base of the butt ferrule. It looks stable enough, but the next owner may wish to apply a protective overcoat. 6" grip is smooth with light soiling, and the rod is fitted with a down-locking reel seat over wood spacer. Scripted and actual weight is 5oz. A medium fast 5wt, it recovers quickly and feels light in the hand. Sold in the original bag and tube with 90% label
