Brandin, Per - Model 802-2 G.M.S., 8' 2/1 2wt Hollowbuilt Bamboo Rod (Mahogany)

For sale here is an 8' 2-piece / single tip 2wt 'GMS' semi-hollow hex, mahogany rod made by Per Brandin. The taper was born out of a request by angler & artist Galen Mercer for a long, ultra-light rod designed specifically for targeting large fish. The result is the model 'GMS' - Galen Mercer Special. The rod features hard coated snake guides wrapped in chocolate brown windings, red agate stripping guide, and micro-Swiss ferrules fitted with a Micarta and cork ferrule plug. All sections are straight, full length and serialized, and the cane is finished in a rich mahogany color. Ventilated cork grip & reel seat with blued nickel silver cap and ring. Stated and actual weight is 2.42oz. The taper was developed in 2016/2017 and only a few examples have been produced. This mahogany example is a personal rod of the makers and was fished sparingly.
