Orvis - CFO III Fly Reel - Rare Pre-Production

For sale here is an exceedingly scarce pre-production Orvis CFO III fly reel in excellent used condition. In preparing for the release of the CFO reel, Orvis made a very limited run of these unscripted reels (30 or less, according to Orvis) and sent them to beta-testers/industry professionals. As a result, very few have survived and almost never in this condition. This is a "screwback" reel with no script or engraving on the face. Adjustable drag knob and dual pawl, the reel can be fished LHW or RHW. Three-hole alloy foot, fully ported spool & frame and freely spinning black composite handle. The drag adjuster works as intended and mechanically the reel is very tight. There is some light wear to the rims but otherwise the gray enamel finish is in very good shape. Sold in a period-correct square Orvis zipper case. These reels are seldom seen on the open market, this is a great opportunity for any CFO/Orvis collector. Don't sleep on this one!
