Julius vom Hofe - Size 3 Raised Pillar Fly Reel

For sale here is a Julius vom Hofe size 3 fly reel in excellent original condition. Diminutive 2 1/4" between pillars, best for a modern 1 or 2wt, although it would hold a 3wt silk level line no problem. German silver construction with Ebonite side plates. Mechanically sound with near-neutral bias (perhaps a slight lean towards LHW). On/off clicker works as intended and the reel foot is unaltered & retains the "3" stamping. The hard rubber side plates are in good shape and display a bit of oxidation/sun fading. The JVH stamp is very faint, I can only see part of the maker's name and patent number. A rather nice example of a scarce #3 JVH. Sold in a modern reel case.
