Paul H. Young - 'Midge' 6'3" 2/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Paul Young Midge in excellent original condition. 6'3" 2-piece / 2-tips, best with a 4wt. Serial #4650, made by Bob Summers around 1974/75. Flamed cane with dark snake guides and carbide stripping guide, wrapped in 541 Gudebrod transparent brown windings. Each section is straight, full length and serialized, and the blued ferrules fit perfectly. Bent loop hook keeper and all-cork grip & reel seat with dual bands. The cork is clean and smooth, and the bands show almost no signs of use. The script is in Bob Summers' hand and reads "A Paul H Young Co Rod - Midge 6'3" 1 3/4oz". The original owners name is written 1 flat above and is not in Summers' handwriting (added later). The varnish is in excellent condition and the rod has clearly seen little use. Overall weight is 2.12oz. Medium fast action and not overly parabolic. A remarkable example of the Midge taper. The satin rod bag is in excellent shape, which is a testament to how little this rod was used. The rod and bag pack into the original Champion tube (aftermarket decal) and the rarely seen heavy fiber shipping tube with the original owner's name & address on the PHY shipping label.
