Orvis - "Deluxe" 7'6" 2/2 6wt, Impregnated Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an Orvis Deluxe 7'6" 2-piece / 2-tip impregnated bamboo rod is near-mint, factory refinished condition. Serial #38476, built by Cal Skinner & George Reid in 1964. Featuring medium tempered impregnated cane, oxidized snake guides and Mildrum stripper, wrapped in transparent caramel windings. 12/64 step down ferrules are blued and the fit is perfect. All sections are straight, full length, and serialized. Scripted weight is 3 7/8oz although it's just a hair over 4oz on my scale. Rated as a 6wt, though I prefer it with a 5wt line, as is usually the case with Orvis cane rods. U-shaped hook keeper and blued winding check. The rod was sent back to Orvis at some point in the 1970's or 1980's and sports a new Battenkill style cork grip and screw-lock reel seat. It looks like the rod was re-wrapped (stripping guide is a replacement) and appears to be un-fished since returning from the Orvis rod shop. This type of conversion wasn't uncommon for folks who preferred the Battenkill furniture over the Superfine grip and dual sliding band reel seat. A nice rod in spectacular condition, sold in factory replacement bag and tube with green/silver foil label.
