For sale here is an 8' 2/2 6wt "Rocky Mountain Trout Bum" made by George Maurer of Sweet Water rods. Serial #99-01, the rod is in excellent used condition. Medium flamed cane with 3x3 nodes. Bright snake guides and carbide stripping guide. The windings are dark apricot with brown accents. Swiss-style ferrules fit perfectly, and I believe the butt and mid ferrules have been reset. Sections are straight & full length, although the mid-female ferrule is mounted slightly askew. This is minor and purely cosmetic. 6.5" grip is soiled and smooth, and the rod is fitted with a down-locking nickel silver real seat over fine burl spacer. Weight is 5.40oz. Medium fast action, it feels like a true 6wt. The original "Trout Bum" model was a 6wt, the very first example was sent to John Gierach for testing but was stolen en route. It was immortalized in his essay "Lost Rod". Eventually the 6wt was called the "Rocky Mountain Trout Bum" and the lighter 5wt was just called "Trout Bum". Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube.
