For sale here is a Gary Howells 8'6" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod in near mint condition. Serial #4153, made in 1974. Medium tempered cane, bright guides wrapped in chestnut windings, overwrapped at the guide feet. Ferrules fit perfectly, and the finish is pristine. All sections are full length, straight & serialized. Cork grip is smooth and bright, and the rod is fitted with Howells' up-locking aluminum reel seat over zebrawood spacer. Weight is 4.24oz, just slightly heavier than the scripted weight of 4 1/8oz. Medium, full flexing action, best with a DT5. A beautiful Howells rod that appears lawn-cast only. Sold in the original bag and tube.
